Who we are

Thrale Road is a mixed psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery in-patient hospital hostel located in Streatham, providing ongoing treatment and support for those people living in the borough of Wandsworth with very complex and enduring mental health difficulties where previous placements have been unable to meet their needs.

Our aim is to promote each service user's recovery journey by fostering values such as collaborative working, compassion, hope and choice. We work in partnership with other agencies to support service users in engaging in community activities, education and employment.

What you can expect

Anyone who uses our services first gets an assessment of their mental health needs and a plan of the care and support they will receive. They will also be allocated to a named nurse who co-ordinates their care and support and a care coordinator. This person should be your main point of contact.  You can speak to them about how your treatment and support are going.

Each service user is offered a specialist assessment by our Occupational Therapist and Clinical Psychologist either at the point of entry into the service or early in their stay. These clinicians then either work directly with the service user or support the team in guiding the care provided.

The doctors work to oversee and guide the support we provide as a team. They review and optimise medication management.

Referrals

Wandsworth services has 10 beds.

Referrals comes mainly from Trust acute inpatient services but also previously from Forensic and CMHT. They will discuss cases and make referrals to the rehabilitation service and the consultant will carry out an assessment of need.

Other useful information

Explanation of the service is normally discussed when it is felt that the patient requires a more intensive rehabilitation programme of care and treatment because of the complexities of their symptoms.
