Would you like to become a Rethink advocate? Come to the Open Day

15 January 2010

National mental health charity Rethink is currently looking for volunteer advocates to work with clients in the Wandsworth area.

What will volunteer advocates do?

The volunteer advocates will be working with clients with mental health problems and drug and alcohol misuse issues. Volunteers will receive full training on how to work as an advocate and will be supported in their role. No-one is excluded from expressing interest in this role, and people with a history of substance misuse will be assessed on an individual basis for suitability.

Open day

An open day will take place at Springfield Hospital, where there will be talks by staff members, ex-service users and representatives from community services that will benefit from the work of the advocates.

Date: Friday 15 January
Time: 10am -12pm
Venue: Voyager Café (signposted), Building 3 (Admissions Building), Springfield Hospital

What is Rethink?

Rethink aims to empower and encourage service users to take an active role in making decisions that affect their lives and to take the lead in securing their rights.
