Our Charitable Fund receives over £13,000 in public support

The South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust Charitable Fund is receiving generous public support after the family of a former patient  launched a remarkable fundraising campaign calling for donations to be used for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Aquarius Ward at Springfield Hospital.

Sophie, who sadly passed away in May 2016, spent time at Aquarius Ward had admired the “remarkable dedication and care of the staff” that had looked after her. Sophie’s family wanted to honour her wishes by supporting the Trust’s Charity to help other young people  going through the same experiences.

Chief Executive David Bradley said “We are humbled that Sophie’s family chose to honour her memory in this way. The outpouring of support from the public is a testament to her life as well as the hard working staff we have on the ward. These donations will help make life better for patients and ensure we can continue helping to improve people’s lives.”

You can find out more about Sophie’s story and how to support the Trust’s Charity here: http://bit.ly/29xoaQh. £13,000 (including gift aid) has been raised so far with over £3000 being raised by Tim Tolcher, a family friend, who did a non-stop 220 mile cycle ride from London to Ilfracombe earlier this month in aid of the charity. The fundraising page is still open for donations http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/TimTolcher. Money donated will be used to enhance the patient experience provided from Aquarius Ward at Springfield Hospital.

The South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust Charitable Fund supports various projects to help people with mental health problems and help them to stay active and to be more involved in their communities and workplace.

You can help raise money for the Trust by sponsoring us. If you are interested in organising an event to help us raise money you can find out more information by going to our charity website: http://bit.ly/2ac5FxK.
