As part of ITV's #Changing Minds campaign on mental health in the UK, ITN news spent a week at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust, to provide an overview of the excellent services run by the Trust.
The Trust provides hospital inpatient and outpatient services, social care, community-based services and support to people in their own homes in the London boroughs of Wandsworth, Kingston, Richmond, Sutton and Merton.
The Trust also provides a range of national specialist services - including eating disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and mental health services for deaf children and adults.
The ITV's #Changing Minds campaign is a series of reports on mental health in Britain aimed at challenging the stigma and discrimination that people with mental illness face, exploring areas of best practice and highlighting the need to achieve parity of esteem between physical and mental health.
As part of filming, ITV spoke to our staff and our young people, their families and carers, who use our inpatient facilities or are now being seen more quickly at home or in the community.
The ITV news package featured the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) national service provided at the Trust, and spoke to staff, service users and their parents / carers on their experiences of care.
ITV news also spoke to Chief Executive, David Bradley, who explained the system pressures mental health trusts are currently under and the challenges ahead over the next 5 years in mental health in the UK.
As well as spending time with the Trust, ITV also featured the charity Young Minds, and a street triage scheme with police in Sussex.
The news item featuring our Trust aired on Thursday 30th July, during the 13.30, 18.30 and 22.00 ITV national news bulletins.
