Trainees in child and adolescent psychiatry complete two posts during their three years’ training. One is a community (tier 3) post; the other is in a specialist (tier 4) service. This is in line with current Royal College/Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board (PMETB) requirements.
The London and Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) deaneries offer trainees a six-month ‘grace period’ in order to find a suitable consultant post after receiving their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). This is when many trainees choose to gain more specialist experience.
