Psychotherapy experience

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Training Scheme offers a wide range of psychotherapy experience. The Trust runs family therapy courses (accredited through the Institute of Family Therapy); many trainees use part of their study leave to attend. The Trust also offers a short course in psychodynamic thinking relevant to psychiatry.

Trainees are also encouraged to take part in short and long cases in psychodynamic psychotherapy, behavioural therapy and CBT, family therapy and other relevant forms of psychotherapy in individual and group settings. Most placements are able to offer appropriate supervision for each type of psychotherapy.
