Training for physical and occupational therapists

Occupational therapy

South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust offers placements to occupational therapy students from local universities. We also conduct research with the universities into the benefits of occupational therapy.

We are committed to practice placement education; we have invested in the training of placement educators and aim to increase the number of student places.

Physical therapies

The physical therapies service provides a range of physical interventions, for example:

• physiotherapy
• exercise therapy
• massage therapy.

We use specialist skills to enhance the quality of life, and physical and psychological wellbeing of those using the Trust’s services.

Our physiotherapy and massage therapy teams offer training placements to students who wish to gain experience working with mental health service users.
