Young carers

If you are spending a lot of time looking after a family member or doing chores around the house, it is important that you tell someone. Speak to a teacher at school, a social worker, a doctor or a family friend. They will be able to help you and your family.

Help and support

There are lots of ways in which you can get help with caring. Click on the links below for more information. In an emergency you can dial 999 and ask the operator for help.

Carers Direct: information about help available in your area. You can also call them for free, confidential advice on 0808 802 0202.

Carers UK: advice and information for young carers. You can also speak to someone for free and in confidence by calling 0808 808 7777.

Young Carers Initiative: can help you get help with caring and offers support and information. It also arranges evening clubs, fun days out and holidays for young carers.
