At its meeting on Thursday 30 June, the Trust Board decided to appeal against Wandsworth Council's refusal of the outline planning application for Springfield. The Board's decision responds to the urgent need to regenerate the site in order to reinvest in mental health facilities.
Kim Goddard, Director of Nursing & Operations, said:
"The Trust's decision to appeal is based, above all, on our duty of care to the people we serve. It is our overriding responsibility to ensure that patients are cared for in modern, purpose-built facilities which will best aid their recovery. For this reason, no change on the Springfield Hospital site is simply not an option."
Find out more in the Board paper and the Trust's press release.
We welcome all feedback on the proposals and are continuing to meet local people, Trust staff, service users, carers and others to discuss them in more detail.
