Working in the Community
We have many opportunities for staff from all disciplines working in our community teams.
In our community services, mental health professionals work in multidisciplinary teams.
Teams could include doctors, nurses, therapists, team managers (usually from a professional clinical or social care background) and other support staff.

We want you to be a part of our service by getting involved, telling us what you think of the care and services we provide, and helping us to shape our future by contributing your views and skills to improve how we manage the Trust. If you want to shape the future direction of our Trust and get involved with our work, then becoming a member is the perfect next step. As a member you will be able to choose how involved you want to be, from coming along to meetings to participating in elections, or just receiving regular information from us. Membership is free and available to everyone over the age of 12 but you must be 16 to stand for elections to the council of governors.

You can stand for election on the Council of Governors, and give views and advice to our Trust Board on strategy and plans.
You will be helping us to raise awareness of the problems faced by those with mental health conditions and challenge the stigma associated with mental health.
Who can become a member?
We are keen to involve as many people as possible in the work of the Trust, including patients, members of the local community and our staff.
Our membership is divided into three categories:
- patients and carers - open to anyone who has used our services, or who cares for someone who has used our services, in the previous five years
- public - members of the public who are interested in our services and helping shape the future of the Trust
- staff - Trust staff members who want to be more involved in making decisions about the future of the Trust

Trust Board meetings
The Trust Board meets formally on the second Thursday of the month. The first part of every board meeting is open to members of the public and all staff. Come along and be a part of the meeting!
This is your Trust, and we want as many local voices as possible helping us build the best services for our local community and nationwide.

Safe staffing levels
One of the objectives of the The Mental Health Staffing Framework is to give mental health leaders the skills and knowledge to plan and deliver safe staffing for inpatient services.
All trusts must publish information about the number of nursing staff working on each ward. This is required by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
We have information boards on each ward, indicating planned and actual staffing levels for every shift. We also publish a month-by-month, cross-site summary on this website.
Work is underway on a guide for community mental health services. It will add to the work of the Mental Health Taskforce on establishing the right balance of staff when dealing with those with mental health conditions.
